in a chair!

Just hung up with Debbie. They were able to move Jacob into a chair just now. He is actually out of the bed and in a special hospital chair. He is still very heavily sedated and tries to keep his up but it flops back and forth. Hard so very hard and yet small steps forward. One of the thoughts is that he will be more comfortable...the other is to start to get him out of the bed. Still lots of buzz by doctors around the medications and what to do and they are watching him closely and making adjustments. But it is forward motion. Praise God who is continuing to watch over him and spread his loving arms around him - and us.

Jensen and I are finishing up our time with Robbie. He starts work soon and we need to leave him. Hard. So very hard and yet small steps forward. The right thing is not necessarily the easy thing.

Griped by grace.

Love and Peace

Tom,
I read about Jacob's injury in the Capitola Times yesterday. I met Jacob a few months ago when I purchased my first surfboard at Freeline. He is such an upbeat person. I visited Freeline and spoke with Tara this afternoon because I have background in nonprofit fund development and grant writing. Has anyone taken on the project of searching for Foundations that will donate to Jabob's fund as of yet? If not, please let me know and I will research, and contact the potential opportunities for you. Maybe these efforts will help. I am thinking that Jacob will need rehabilitation therapy, and hopefully some grants will help get him the best treatment possible to get back on his feet as soon as possible.

From the Natale Clan in Soquel, we are praying for all of you for the strength to get through this. We love Debbie at Mountain School where all three of our children attend and wanted to let her know we are thinking of her and her family in this difficult time. Love to all.

I am so glad that you were able to make the trip down with Robbie and both of you connected with wonderful people to support you. I am praying Robbie, that you will quickly find the mission God has sent you to fulfill while at school and rest in your heart that God and his people will be on the job here close to Jacob. That won't make up for your missing him, but hopefully as you serve God there, you will be assured that God will also send those to meet the needs of Jacob. I know God will use you to bless others and be blessed in return.

God, thank you that I can come directly to you and be grateful for so many answers to prayer. Thank you that Robbie was able to see Jacob's progress before returning to school. Please keep your arms around this family. Give Tom and Jensen safe travel on the way back. Father, hold Debbie as she waits with Jacob for their return. Father thank you that Jacob is able to get into the chair and move a bit. Please help him to heal in all the places only you know and understand. We are so grateful for the special medical teams that are trying to help Jacob. Please give them special insight into his situation. Whether they know what to do or not you can still direct their actions and you can heal what they cannot. We ask you to handle every detail from your perspective and bring about your plan for Jacob. Protect the family from the weariness that brings despair and give them constant hope that you provide from the Holy Spirit within. We ask all this in Jesus.
